This lab exercise provides hands-on training with electrical relays, fundamental components in electric vehicle (EV) power management systems. Students will build control circuits and use multimeters to understand how a low-power control signal can safely switch a high-power load, a critical function in EVs for managing components like main contactors, charging circuits, and auxiliary systems.

Students will wire single-pole double-throw (SPDT) relays, learning to identify the coil, common, normally open, and normally closed terminals. They will measure voltage and continuity to verify proper operation, gaining practical troubleshooting skills. This activity directly translates theoretical knowledge of electromagnetism and switching to real-world automotive applications, preparing students for technical roles in the rapidly growing electric vehicle industry.
